A Rare Roast Worth Savoring: Hi Hope Kenya Peaberry Now at Coroco

A rare roast has arrived at Coroco—and coffee lovers, you don’t want to miss this one. Our new Hi Hope Kenya Peaberry Menu FCS is small-batch roasted by Karen in our Sycamore roastery and will be featured at Sample Saturday this weekend. Expect a tasting experience that’s layered, vibrant, and rooted in sustainability.

What Is Peaberry Coffee—and Why Does It Matter?

In about 5% of the world’s coffee cherries, a natural mutation produces a single, small, round bean—called a peaberry. Unlike typical beans that grow two to a cherry, peaberries develop solo, often resulting in a denser and more flavorful roast.

They’re sorted by hand (yep, one by one), and fans say they produce a noticeably sweeter, richer cup. That rarity and labor make peaberry coffee truly special.

🌍 From Bungoma County, Kenya

This roast comes from Menu Farm Coffee Society in Bungoma County, a region in Kenya’s former Western Province known for its agriculture and deep coffee-growing roots. Farmers here rely on sustainable practices and crop diversity—growing coffee alongside maize, beans, finger millet, and sweet potatoes.

Fun fact: Bungoma gets its name from Eng’oma, the Bukusu word for “drums.” It was once a traditional meeting place for elders.

🌸 Flavor Notes: Bright, Sweet, and Juicy

Hi Hope Kenya Peaberry is full of high-grown flavor and complex sweetness. Here’s what you can expect:

  • Cacao nibs – rich, slightly bitter depth
  • Pineapple – bright tropical acidity
  • Brown sugar – mellow sweetness
  • Hibiscus – floral and tart
  • Lemon & lime – citrus zest with a clean finish

This is a roast you’ll want to slow down and sip.
